Barrie Glabman is a Partner at Marfa Stance, the London-born luxury outerwear house built on a single conviction: a garment should be designed to evolve, not to be replaced. Every Marfa Stance piece is reversible and modular, made in limited quantities by family-run workshops in Italy from deadstock and recycled fabrics. The result is a wardrobe that moves across climates, seasons, and decades, and a quiet challenge to an industry built on waste.

Barrie leads Marfa Stance’s growth, partnerships, and impact, with a clear mandate: scale the brand without diluting what makes it matter. She is guiding its expansion from London’s Notting Hill into a growing American presence anchored by its first permanent workshop on Madison Avenue, with shops in Montecito, Chicago, and Marin County and a following that reaches as far as Seoul. She has shaped collaborations that carry the brand into craft and design, including work with the quilters of Gee’s Bend and with Stephen Kenn Studio on the house’s first furniture line.

Central to her vision is the belief that a brand is measured by the community it builds. Through Marfa Stance and Friends, she convenes female founders around shared purpose rather than commerce. Marfa Stance also stands behind the causes its community cares about, serving as lead sponsor of the Every Mother Counts gala for two consecutive years and of The Kitchen’s 2026 gala.

Barrie came to Marfa Stance after two decades as an art director, shaping how some of the most recognized names in media and retail present themselves to the world. After earning her B.F.A. from the School of Visual Arts, she began as a graphic designer at The New York Times Magazine, then served as a consulting art director for Bloomingdale’s, Condé Nast, and J.Crew. At the boutique agency Henszey and Albert she art directed Rosenthal China and Paul Stuart, and she went on to lead all art direction for Liz Claiborne.

Across every chapter, Barrie’s work has returned to the same question: how design can carry meaning. As an art director, she shaped how brands look. At Marfa Stance, she is shaping what a brand stands for, building a house where craft, community, and responsibility are part of the same design.
